Badan Narkotika Nasional Provinsi (BNNP) Sumatera Selatan menggelar kegiatan Pemusnahan Barang Bukti Narkotika seberat lebih dari 40 kg, Selasa (1/10), di Kantor BNNP Sumsel.
Kegiatan tersebut dihadiri oleh Asisten I Pemprov Sumsel Akhmad Najib yang mewakili Gubernur Sumsel, Kepala Kanwil DJBC Sumbagtim M. Agus Rofiudin, Kasi Tindak Pidana Narkotika Kejati Sumsel yang mewakili Kepala Kejati Sumsel, Direktur Reserse Narkoba Polda Sumsel yang mewakili Kapolda Sumsel, serta pejabat yang ada di lingkungan Provinsi Sumatera Selatan.
Menurut Kepala BNNP Sumsel Brigjen Pol John Turman Panjaitan, narkoba yang berhasil disita dan dimusnahkan hanya sekitar 40% dari total narkoba yang beredar di Provinsi Sumsel.
“Jika 1 gram barang bukti jenis narkotika sabu bisa digunakan oleh 6 orang, artinya ada 40.000 gram sabu yang melibatkan 240.000 orang,” ujarnya.
Oleh karena itu, John Turman mengatakan, wilayah Sumatera Selatan sangat membutuhkan tempat rehabilitasi korban penyalahgunaan narkoba.
“Masyarakat Sumatera Selatan adalah gudangnya pemimpin bangsa. Pimpinan nasional yang berasal dari Sumatera Selatan ini tak terhitung jumlahnya. Jika ini tidak kita rawat, maka krisis kepemimpinan di 40 tahun mendatang bisa terjadi,” ungkap John Turman.
Hal tersebut diungkapkannya saat memberikan sambutan pada kegiatan Pemusnahan Barang Bukti Narkotika, Selasa (1/10), di Kantor BNNP Sumsel.
John Turman menambahkan, berdasarkan penelitian dari Tim LIPI, ada 1,7 % dari jumlah penduduk produktif Sumatera Selatan, atau dengan kata lain, ada sekitar 92.000 orang yang sudah terpapar dengan narkoba.
Dikatakannya, hal tersebut bukanlah jumlah yang sedikit. Ia mengungkapkan, ada 183 orang yang dirawat inap di tempat rehabilitasi narkoba yang berada di luar Prov. Sumsel, serta 481 orang yang dirawat jalan oleh BNNP Sumsel.
